The open house on October 15, 2023, at the newly restored Restoration Center in Düsseldorf, organized by the Association of Conservators, was a unique opportunity to introduce a wide audience to the fascinating world of art restoration. Visitors had the chance to witness the meticulous and passionate work of the conservators up close, while also highlighting the importance of preserving art and culture for future generations. Amidst historical and contemporary artworks, lively discussions emerged between visitors and professional conservators, who shared their experiences and stories.

Our task, entrusted to us by the Association of Conservators, was to create a film that compellingly showcased the complexity and significance of the conservator’s profession. Instead of a purely informational approach, we applied our specially developed TWISTED Story technique to engage viewers on an emotional level. Essentially, it means advertising that doesn’t feel like advertising. This approach allowed us to portray the passion and dedication of the conservators through the eyes of six different protagonists, each highlighting distinct aspects of the profession. Their narrated stories created a personal and emotional connection with the audience.

Our solution was an intensive film produced in five different versions to cover a broad range of platforms—from social media to cinema-scale screenings, both with and without audio. The use of vintage Leica lenses gave the film a rich, analog aesthetic, while our macro shots allowed for seamless transitions between different themes. Through collaboration with renowned institutions such as Red Conservation, Kunsthalle Düsseldorf, the Association of Conservators, and TWIST Filmproduktion, we created a work that informs as much as it inspires. Our cinematic journey into the world of restoration offered a captivating insight into a profession that honors the past while preserving culture for the future.
